Here’s a cute, short little interview with actor Baek Sung Hyun, who played Sang-chul on the recently ended drama The Accidental Couple. I won’t translate the whole thing word for word, since it’s kinda repetitive, but here are some highlights:

  • He’s been acting for 15 years now, and has recently been receiving the love of female viewers thanks to his “chocolate abs”. But he says that he’d rather be known for his acting than for his body. He’s worked hard all this time in order to fulfill his dream of becoming a great actor.
  • He’s crazy about exercise, and exercises about six hours a day. He does weight training for three hours, and plays basketball for three hours. On weekends he follows his dad around and plays “jokgu” (it’s like volleyball except you use your feet, not your arms). He thinks having fun while exercising is what’s most important. He doesn’t really care about what he eats, however.
  • About his casting for the movie Our School E.T., in which he starred with Lee Min Ho, Park Bo Young and Moon Chae Won: “I was cast before anyone else in Our School E.T. At that time, the director cast me as the character of Oh Sang Hoon, whom Lee Min Ho hyung ended up playing. He told me that if I were cast as the boxer Jung-gu, it would be hard for him to cast someone else as Sang-hoon. But I really wanted to play Jung-gu, and even before filming started I purposely went to a boxing school and practiced. In the end, the director gave in.”
  • He’s really happy about the recent success of his former co-stars Lee Min Ho, Park Bo Young and Moon Chae Won. He said: “I’m blood type A, so I don’t have the type of personality that can call people first or anything. But I’ve been hearing the latest news about all three of them. I’m really happy that things worked out for all of them. It’s like it’s happening to me, I’m so happy. There probably will be a day in the future when we’ll all work together once more. I’m looking forward to it.”
  • Smiling shyly, he says that he learned how to have fun in front of the camera thanks to Hwang Jung Min, whom he worked with in The Accidental Couple. He said: “I’ve become a fan of Hwang Jung Min sunbae. I do feel some regret over the fact that all the many scenes where we ad-libbed off each other were cut. I was so happy to have gotten the chance to meet an actor like Hwang Jung Min through this drama. Jung-min hyung! I’ll call you often in future!”
  • Regarding his ideal type of woman, he said: “I’m looking for a girlfriend who likes exercising and friends.” He likes women whom he can exercise with, and who place high value on friendships. For him, both love and friendship are very important.
